Overview
For this project, we had to design and disseminate a small publication, or zine, that documents the unseen or hidden stories of the land or territory on which we currently reside.
This zine is part of a project of mine at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, exploring place-based design. My hope, through this zine, is to help you forge a meaningful connection with the places you explore in Vancouver through observation, introspection, and personal expression — since we can get so caught up in the day-to-day that we forget to close our eyes to see.
Challenge
Search for and tell an interesting story about the land. Find the appropriate format to tell that story. Locate communites to share my work with.
Solution
Design a small publication outlining my relationship with Vancouver, and creating an experiential zine, inviting my readers to experience the city with novelty.
