PREMISE
Growing up is often described as becoming who we are. But what about the parts of ourselves we leave behind along the way?
EXPLORATION
Inspired by Dana Maison's eponymous song, What Happened to Me? explores the relationship between identity, gender expectations, and coming of age. Through a series of staged portraits, the project questions how our sense of self evolves as we navigate the expectations placed upon us.
EXECUTION
Colourful, delicate, yet bold, the series uses styling, makeup, props, and visual symbolism to portray different stages of growing up. Its playful aesthetic embodies the spirit of the song, while allowing space for introspection.
